A stampede at the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal in North Kolkata injured at least 35 people after rainfall sent attendees rushing forward. Eyewitnesses said several people fainted and were taken on motorcycles for medical help. West Bengal officials, including the Chief Minister, visited injured people at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital.
