Chennai’s first heavy northeast monsoon rain left several neighbourhoods without power since Saturday night after maintenance issues surfaced at Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation. Electricity in Koyambedu wholesale market, one of Chennai’s busiest trade hubs, was restored only on Sunday evening after the outage spread across residential areas.
