The India Meteorological Department said conditions are favourable for the northeast monsoon to begin over the southern peninsula in the next 2-3 days. It also said the southwest monsoon is withdrawing from the remaining parts of the country, and isolated heavy rain is expected over Kerala, Mahe, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
