The Public Accounts Committee, headed by K C Venugopal, initiated a privilege motion against the chief secretaries of Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab, Odisha, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The action followed their absence from a meeting examining irregularities in pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for Scheduled Caste students. Venugopal met Speaker Om Birla and informed him about the committee’s decision.
