Chennai saw rain in several areas on Wednesday, with very heavy showers reported in Tambaram and moderate rain in Adyar, Besant Nagar and Saidapet. The showers brought relief from the heat as weather officials said conditions were favourable for the northeast monsoon to begin over southern parts of India.
