A team from IISc Bengaluru has said the Centre’s Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan rankings do not adequately reflect the air quality citizens experience. The researchers said the system gives too much weight to procedural compliance and self-reported data from urban local bodies, and called for an assessment overhaul.
