Private omni bus operators in Tamil Nadu are charging more than double the usual fares ahead of Ayudha Pooja, with tickets between Chennai and Madurai rising to as much as Rs 4,500. The state transport department has formed special teams across Tamil Nadu to monitor fares and warned of strict action.
