Greater Chennai Corporation has readied more than 1,000 pumps, including 500 tractor-mounted units, to clear water from flooded areas across Chennai ahead of the northeast monsoon. The move is aimed at speeding drainage in low-lying parts of the city if heavy rain causes inundation.
