rime Minister Narendra Modi took a ride on Chennai Metro’s newly inaugurated Phase II stretch on Sunday (October 11, 2026), travelling between Porur Bypass and Poonamallee Bypass stations. The Poonamallee–Vadapalani corridor, built at a cost of around ₹4,900 crore, spans 14.6 km and includes a 3.7-km double-decker structure. The new stretch is expected to improve connectivity between Chennai’s western suburbs and the city centre, while reducing travel time for commuters.
