A crowd surge at the Chor Bagan Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata left 19 devotees dead and 25 injured on Maha Saptami. West Bengal Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said a microphone announcement may have sparked panic. Police detained the organisers and security personnel, sealed the pandal and began an investigation.
