Chennai received three National Disaster Response Force teams, totaling 90 personnel, after the India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for very heavy rain on October 18. The teams were deployed as a precaution against flooding and other rain-related emergencies, following a request from the Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Department.
