Chennai and its suburbs recorded widespread light rain on Wednesday, a day before the Northeast Monsoon was due to begin over the southern peninsula on Thursday. The Regional Meteorological Centre said an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal was over the Comorin area coast.
